Get my GTi on monday
« on: 26 February 2010, 22:02 »
Get my new Gti on Monday, cant wait. I stupidly bought a TT to replace my old mk5 Gti big mistake. Can anyone tell me if the cabin is now rattle free, the mk5 rattled like mad specially at the air diffuser and the doors?

Mine's rattle free.

Probably a bit early to tell if the MK6 is going to rattle, most probably need a few more miles on our wonderful UK roads...the passenger lining is coming off my MK5 soon for some Dynamatt though !!

I've had my MK6 GTI for about 5 months now (5000 miles).
There's some faint rattle coming from the cubbyhole behind the interior light switch when I'm driving on the motorway, and I've actually had this problem since the day I got my car. Haven't visited the dealer thou, because the rattle seems to come and go.
What I've noticed after about 3 months of ownership, are the loud 'rubbery' squeaks from the doors/bootlid area when going over speed bumps or driveways at a slight angle. I've never had this problem in any of the cars I've owned so far (which includes a BMW 1 series, Honda Civic and even a Mazda 2!).
I have to say the interior plastics and the switch gear materials are very high quality nevertheless, but I'm less than satisfied about the build quality. :(

^ Its the rubber seals squeeking often happens and has been talked about a few times on here. They dry out alittle and squeek on the paintwork as the doors etc flex. You can get rubber seal cleaner/feeder to cure it. VW sell there own but its no better or worse than the highstreet ones.
Mk6 GTI  &  Mk1 GTI
