Temp sender

Im going to change my temp sender tomorrow. I was just going to plug in the new one. Just looked at Haynes and its saying about draining the coolant. Is this necessary? :undecided:
The day you see me in a diesel is the day there is no more petrol left :D

goes without saying to do it preferably when cold loosen the expansion bottle cap and this way coolant loss will be minimal
