GT TDI 150 MPG
« on: 24 February 2010, 14:19 »
Hi All, I am getting around 30-40 mpg average ona full tank covering around 400miles is this about right? I do still need to change the fuel filter and MAF sensor. Does anyone know the part code for the 150 MAF sensor? and what VW will charge.

What tpye of journeys are you doing??

Short, start-stopping journeys that will be about right

Long distance you should be seeing 45+ easily

VW will charge around £90 for a MAF sensor on an exchange basis i.e you give your old one back

Can try GSF or Euro Car Parts - make sure its a genuine Bosch item

Mainly dual carrigeway??

150bhp is slightly different as it does hold power for longer but I'd change up by 3000rpm as the main torque band is between 1800rpm and 3000rpm

You'll notice when you change gear at apporx 3000rpm you'lll drop back to around 2000rpm which is in the meat of the torque band

I don't - just ask for Mass Air Flow sensor

Not very good really - ideally you should get it diagnosed before spending money out

yeah got it mate

I assume its fairly free flowing traffic on your journey or you start / stopping every few hundred yards??

I'd find someone local to you with VAGCOM / VCDS or you're quite close to PSI Tuning in Stoke.  Get someone to do live data logging on the car to confirm if the MAF is at fault as they don't always bring up a fault code
