^^^^ You have no idea how true that comment is.

If you're talking only GTI/'Rocco R/Golf R, then I think the best of the three is a 5-dr GTI.... but then again I'm biased. Try the same question on a 'Rocco or an R forum, though...  :lipsrsealed:

3-Dr, or for those who like to show off = Scirocco
5-Dr, or for those who are more discerning = Golf

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

When I first saw a scirocco, I thought it was jaw dropping and very unique.
I was really tempted to get one even although I needed a 5 seater and 5 doors.
Went and had a closer look and wasn't that impressed to be honest. It just didn't feel right.
Now when I see them I think they just look like deformed Golfs.

To me the Scirocco looks great at certain angles, but from some angles it just looks weird. I considered buying one last year before the GTI came out. It has a very exciting look but I'm not sure if I'd still like the look in a year or two. Tbh I don't think the design will age very well and about a year later after release I don't like it as much as I did initially. Also the interior doesn't fit the exterior at all. VW seemed to have ran out of time when they made the interior. It looks like two different cars and due to the interior it doesn't feel special when you're inside. VW should have brought the same design style to the inside. It felt unfinished to me compared to my mothers Cooper S. Now that's a car that follows the design style both inside and out. I prefer the look of a 3-door GTI but my next car will most likely be a more practical 5-door depending on the family situation.

Is it just me, or is the 'Rocco particularly colour-sensitive?

I think black, blue and white are luuuuvvvly, but the others are poo.

I was tempted to buy a scirroco due to its price and sharper driving experience. I decide to spend the extra £ for the Golf cause it looks better and easier to park!

I think similar although the black to me makes it look like one of those Pumas or Tigras and does nothing for me.
The white and blue make it look ok though.

I'd agree on the best colours being blue or white. I'd still pick the Golf though. If the OP's mate does get a Scirocco though, it needs to be this one:

Golf R
