I've had 195's on an 8in rim, no stress. MOT fine. etc

have checked with local police station and VOSA today and stretched tyres are not illegal aslong as they are safely on the rim IE stretched so much that a tight corner will rip them off the wheel!!

my mk2 has just passed its mot this year running 195-40s on 8inch rims and believe me the tester was very very paticular so im guessing its not a problem.

its actually the widest part of the car, not the body (arch). So you can argue the mirrors are the widest part

as long as the top of the sidewall is in line or under the arch then it is legal provided the tire doesnt scrub at all
