i dont think anyone knows for 100% at my work vosa came in for an inspection once on mots, i asked both the guys and neither knew, just said "as long as the tyre is on the rim and inflated i cant see why not" and they said to make sure you let your insurance co no, so not very helpful, iv been running some on mine for 3 months now no trouble yet

Who told you they were illegal?

How much stretch are you running?

Do your tyres/ wheels stick out beyond the arches?

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

I believe its legal as long as the tread is covered by the wheel arch, not 100% though

I heard this also but not 100% either. I'd phone your local MOT station/Police station to double check because, believe it or not, they are there to advise you on such matters.

If they don't know make sure you record who you talk to that way if there are repercussions you can fall back on that

Had this debate many a time!
Personally sticking to near zero stretch because the police are sh*t hot on young drivers!
Kells runs 195/45/16 on his mk3 and says its not illegal though?
And 195 on an 8J rim is pretty extreme!

I recently got stopped by an unmarked traffic car because he considered my car as 'too low' so he advised that I raised it up.

Whilst he was talking to me, he checked the tyre width (195/45) and asked me the wheel width (7") to make sure that the tyres weren't stretched.

So I think they may be cutting down on stretched tyres this year.

Did they say your tyres were OK?

I like how yours are TBH, "proper" stretch is just gay.

over on ed38 some run silly stretch, im not a fan of that
