get yourself an 8v gti head+cam (i paid £50), exhaust manifold and downpipe (i paid £30), and a k jet dizzy(i paid  £25), a weber 32/34 carb ( around £100 mark)  and that willput big smiles on your face :)

just cam on its own works, dont HAVE to replace cam seal buit its a good idea to. but its not a good idea to do modifications without telling the insurance! if adding a cam bumps price up loads, change your insurer. HIC add something like +10% for pretty cheap

weber 32/34 carb, gti cam, light port and polish ( done at home) cut down hedgehog, homebrew exhaust and pancake filter on the top and lowered -60mm will keep you amused until you can afford a bigger insurance prem' :wink:

i know what your saying but unless they strip the engine they wouldnt be any wiser. and its not like its adding 300hp. its just making sure i get out of a side street without getting squished.

would my pully off the 1.6 fit the 1.8 cam? also would the inlet and zorst manifold bolt straight on? with original gaskets etc?
