hello from sunny derbyshire

im thinkin of buying a mk3 golf so i thought id join up on here to find out all the good/bad
points of this car.
any help with what to look for,rust in usual places that type of thing would be helpful.

where about in Derbyshire are ya?
lots of things to mention but on my phone it will take ages lol
have a search and i will write up later on the pc
if your close enough you could always look at mine :)

hi m8,
well lots of things to mention about the 3,
make sure ya get one with a good body on it... front sills around jacking point like to go,
smoking when driving, ussually piston rings etc...
stalling/hunting - usually simple as split vac pipe - but can be maf meter or sensor,
bad fuel economy - needs a good service :D
cant think what else without boring ya, lol.
then its your choice on engine, as said, have a search on here, its been covered loads and there is bags of useful info to aid ya get a good n :D

ha ha ya cant go anywhere nowadays,thinkin bout gettin rid pal yeah
fancyin a mk3 of some description but not sure what yet.i loose al me convictions soon so its
time to go out and play properly again :wink:

Best go steady though Mate, you don't want to get those points back too quickly  :wink:

Not go too far wrong with a 3, as Robz says, bodywork can be an issue, check around all that plastic trim, they're nasty water traps  :angry:.

Get yersen in the Mk3 section, ask the same question and let the 8v vs 16v argument begin  :laugh: :laugh:

im in the hope valley mate so not a million miles from ya,i was hopin you meant the car and nowt else
ha ha.no doubt i will have to trawl through the usual sh!tters before i find a decent one.

ha ha,yeah that,ll go down well for a newbie.i wont be blattin around for a while yet mate
gotta wait for some coin to come through so ile use that time to trawl through the usual dogs that
are out there probly will be an 8v tbh though
