sorry to hijack but do i need one of the induction kits mentioned on a gti or can i use any type?????

There are a few kits out there for the mk5 but the ones Hurdy mentioned seem to be the best.

There are many diffrent types of air intakes. I currently have the Carbon Speed one:



It was quite a bit cheaper than the Forge one, but as mentioned, wont give you as many gains. Still, miles better than standard imo.

what sort of money are we talking for a reasonable one also i wana put a dump vavle on for a bit for a laugh does it need to be a re-circulating one

its a turbo car so comes with a dump valve. forge do spacers if thats what you want. i wouldnt bother though. whats unnecessary?  if your going to get a MK5 GTI and you have to mod it then you will do the reseach before doing it but obviously advice helps from the right direction. I would say when you got over the initial payment of the car consider getting a map and decide how far you want to go with it. if you just want a filter and map then get revo. if you want to get an exhaust to compliment it i would recommend revo, HPFP then again Revo. if your a mod hungry person there is only one way to go. if however your going to buy the car and map it and never think about any of the serious bits i would say get any map on the market. Revo is VAG specific. You pay your quids and make a choice if your going to spent three hundred on something thats not right why not spend 5 and get the real deal. although saying all this i think Nick at RTech could probably cater for what you need, sounds like his MK5 maps are pretty strong..
