Air intake
« on: 21 February 2010, 13:01 »
Hi people I'm new to the forum! Bought myself a 06 gti about 2 weeks ago now and lovin it!  Got the car mapped on Thursday so after fitting a new bypass vavle I ended up with 220 bhp at the wheels and 250 at the flywheel! My next mod was going to be intake and a down pipe!  I'm stuck between the evoms or the apr induction kits! Can anyone help me out on this or even five me other options?

Cheers
Thomas

There are loads of options, but the best ones on the market at the moment are:-

Forge Twintake
ITG maxogen
EVOM's

RedRobin has just had the Forge one fitted and has made some healthy gains over his original Carbonio (over 20bhp!!!!)

Similarly the ITG has made phenomenal increases over the stock intake on K04 edition 30's (over 40bhp!!! - bear in mind it is a K04!)

Evoms also has seen increases of over 20bhp too.

If it were my money (even though I have the EVOM's on mine) I'd probably go for the Twintake as it also looks good!

Cheers for the reply,
Yea I had looked at the forge system and the oettinger ram air system! I do plan on going to k04 upgrade but it will be after the summer before I have everything together! But I don't want to be buying one to have to change it when I upgrade!

I like that cover more than the stock one. Would look awesome with a red stripe around the edge or some other small detail.
Also, those are some serious gains for just an intake! Makes a change from the mk3 section where it's swiss-cheese your airbox or you're loosing power

....Thanks, Alan! We all love compliments :afro:

Regal in Southampton are the main distributors for Evoms in the UK but I have yet to enjoy a good experience with them. JKM ordered one for me at the very beginning of December but when I asked about the order (which I subseqently cancelled) last weekend, Kate told me that none of their order had turned up yet! That's 3 months!!

A friend gave me his because the previous owner had badly modified one of the fixings and I have mended and modified it to be more easily taken on and off. Normally they cost around £90. Obviously I transferred my existing carbon centre strip.
