Door protection strips
« on: 19 February 2010, 19:32 »
Has anyone fitted door protection strips on their GTI?  I picked up a set the other day from my local dealer but having taken them to my trusted local paint shop they say that they can't be colour coded.  The ones I've got are supplied in black but does anyone know if you can get another type ready to be painted?  It would also be nice to see a photo of a GTI with them on if anyone has already taken the plunge.

Thanks
Sharper

I don't see why they could not rub them down. Prime them and paint them. I think they maybe worried that the colour match will not be that good. There is not another version as far as i know.

Thanks Snoopy for the advice and photos

Have spoken again to the paint shop and they are going to flat them down before priming and painting them

I'm sure mk5 ones would fit and they can be bought pre primered.

I found the ones on my mk5 were useless, they are way too small to actually protect the door much. Made the car look less slab sided though.
