RPM on Tickover GT TDI 150 what shud it be at when warm?

approx 900rpm

yeah it is - if you hook it up to VAGCOM it will be around 850rpm - 900rpm but the gauge isn't totally accurate

dead on 1K rpm?  

It shouldn't do........

Yeah dead on all the time, regardless of hot or cold, it just sits on there and doesn't move when idle.

What could cause that? The car has been Vagcom'd twice now and nothing has ever come up.

I don't honestly know I'm afraid 

Though reading through another thread in the main section it would appear a chap has a problem with his alternator

My car has a brand new alternator put on, well it was in the last 10k miles.

Jeez need to get to the bottom of this, gonna start a thread to see if anyone can help as I don;t want to hi-jack this thread.
