Clock display
« on: 15 February 2010, 17:17 »
Hey people this may sound really stupid, and I apologise in advance for sounding this dumb, but can you change the clock display on the low line display from the 24 hour format to a 12 hour format?

Thanks in advance and I hope you all weren’t laughing too hard at my stupidity.

I think the problem is no one knows one way or the other - certainly its not anything I've thought of doing myself and I don't think I've seen any mention of this in the manual.

Which leads me on to ....

Have you checked the manual?

If you have highline MFD, i'm sure you can change the units; mph/kph, 12-hr, 24-hr, etc...

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

I had a quick flick through the manual, but didnt see anything.

Not a majour problem, just would like it in 12 hr format.

I have the low line display.

2nd quick question, is it easy to change to the high line display? Im guessing no and would be a pretty majour job to do if it can be done?

I beleive you only get the highline computer display with the multifunction steering wheel which thankfully I ordered as an option on my mk5. New car has it as standard fit I see.

^^^Wrong. I have highline and a poverty spec wheel.

I'd be very surprised if there's no way to change the display on your car, at all...? I have been wrong before, though...

Get yourself a highline set of clocks and someone who is pretty trick at VagCom and you can swap them over. I believe you need to recode the immobiliser and update the mileage which are the tricky parts.

^^  As above, physically changing them over is pretty easy.  How difficult the coding part is depends on the year of manufacture of your car and the clocks.  For a certain age its a dealer only job but the earlier ones can be done by someone competant with VAGCOM and another piece of software.
