Back to the smooth rear bumper again today

Right, I got a few coats of filler primer on, had me bowl of water and 600 grade wet and dry all ready to go and.........

........I found a bloody crack in the weld on the left hand side [:(] It was only a little crack so I was able to sand the area back to the plastic then used my dremel type tool to grind a v along the crack and then re welded it, sand that down and then a touch of filler. All seems good now.

As it stands now I'm on my 2nd can of filler primer. Each can gives 3 good coats so I'm sanding after every can. One more coat from the 2nd can then some more wet sanding. Will got some pics of it later on once I'm done for the day.

It is all going well. There are quite a few little bits that need further attention but my back is killing me from being bent over the bloody thing spraying and sanding so I will tackle them 2moro.

Only done the rear bumper and it needs painting. Has hopefully been sold now tho is I've given up on modding the car as I have other things to spend money on. Modding is an expensive hobby that I can no longer be bothered with. Lol!

Who needs genuine aero wipers........

.... not me thanks to my new retro fit wiper blades

Before:

After:

Had a quick go with them and they clear the window much smoother than the old one's did. Still not as tidy a look as genuine aero arms but still improved on standard blades I think.

Here is where I got them from http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/valeo-silencio-xtrm-um664-retrofit-flat-and-valeo-silencio-xtrm-um622-retrofit-flat-twin-pack-wiper-blades/

Finally an update on the honeycomb grill!!

I started by removing the central slat on the right side of the grill. I tried the honeycomb on it as normal but it just didn't look right. I felt removing it looked much neater. I've trimmed the honeycomb to the shape of the central badge and the edge. All I need to do now is work out how I'm going to attach it to the grill. I'm thinking about using a soldering iron and melting the to separate parts together. Or might just do it as simple as cable ties.

More to come soon.....  :smug: :smug:

Here is how it stands at the end of today.

Managed to get some black Sikaflex from work and set about attaching it. With a few other household items I think I've managed to get good contact between the back part and the mesh. It is currently sat in the house as it was taking forever to harden out in the cold. It has 2 large hammers pushing the mesh down now

Here is the finished product. The center part has had a few fresh coats of satin black and lacquer.

I'm just waiting for the sikaflex to harden on the centre part as the modifications made to it stopped it from clipping in correctly then I will be fitting it on the car later
