not happy EPC
« on: 15 February 2010, 12:16 »
took the car to the garage about 6 months ago as when coming down a gear at like 50-60mph it would limit the revs to 2000 and slowly decrease until it stopped after shaking like a bloody dog for a minute
anyways took it back to garage and the throttle bodies got replaced worth £1600 -warranty covered but had to drive a sh!tty vectra for a month while they found out the problem

it did it again on friday evening. going up the M5 doing about 70 in 6th then get in slow lane to come off at j7 and as i hit the slip road it wont give me any power. all this at 5pm (you can imagine the traffic)
i managed to crawl up the slopey slip road and pull over at the only place possible. had to wait there for about 10 minutes then start it up again and get going.

just does not feel smooth one bit. only seems to want to cut out doing motorway driving which unfortunately we do abit of.

i have had this before with a zafira we bought, after 3 times of this it was law that they must replace or refund the full amount you paid -within a year.

just gunna ring up the garage now and go a little bit crazy ha

anyone else ever had this problem

You cant really call the garage and 'go crazy' as your car was in there over 6 months ago, and I assume that when they had fixed the fault you were happy, until recently when it has gone wrong again.

The sensible thing would be to have the fault diagnosed by an independant company and IF the fault is the same as before and the part they replaced is faulty then you can return with the report and inform them that the part is faulty and enquire about the warranty that the part comes with, most genuine parts will have a minimum of a 12 month warranty. They will then claim for a replacement part and fit it, however there may be some labour costs depending on the parts/labour warranty that the garage offers.

Most part manufacturers have a claim system that the garage can use to claim lost labour time caused by parts that have failed within warranty, ask them.

But in short, you cant blame the garage that installed the part 6 months on. Its probably the fault of the part, or more likley a completely different fault!

i meant was ringing up the company where i bought the golf. the garage were we have it fixed , serviced and MOT'd are fab. a very good family owned company who tell you what it is no messing

the car itself has been nothing but bother tbh since we bought it march 2009. been in and out the garage regularly. the warranty has covered nearly 2.5k in this year.
