As above, I pulled a bit to hard and a piece of metal in the door handle snapped clean off and the door handle hanging out of the the door skin.

I was going to head to GSF to buy a new handle, my question is are they a complete unit? with all the workings or are they just he external part.

If i ease the handle back into the door skin I can still un lock the door with the handle but its not safe or secure.

Hope that makes sense, finding it hard to word it!

gsf ones are the complete unit, think they may even come with a lock in,either that or you can choose one with and without.
you should be able to swap your old lock over easily enough, just keep the key in the lock before you remove it. theres a single screw on the back, undo that to remove the paddle and spring, then pull the lock and swap it all over to the new handle.

be sure to grease the fingers on the new one up good before you fit it :)

As above, make sure the keys in the lock or the bits of the barrel that make the key code fall out

I feel a little inferior here as I am only 6'-2"

Back to the original question, if you can, fit genuine handles. I have had nothing but trouble woth non-genuine ones.

When I had my previous car, I bought a set of complete doors just for the handles. Not much money, and I got some spare mirrors and window regulators for stock. Well worth the effort going to collect them.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
