Golf TDI 100 PD NOISE
« on: 11 February 2010, 19:11 »
Had my timing belt changed and waterpump.  Just started to hear a noise in the engine bay to the left side.  I took it back to the garage and a clip was undone on the timing belt.  The noise stopped and now I have a new noise.  If you say the letter d pronounced de.  e.g. de de de de if you say it over and over kind of like a whisper fast, thats the sound lol.   This only happens at tick over, hot or cold.  fan belt seems fine for tention and does not appear to be rubbing on anything.

I also have another noise when driving slow, if I do a reverse park using clutch and gas, I hear a squeak.  Is this just tention put on the belts and nothing to worry about?

the squeak would be the AUX belt slipping a little, mine does it from time to time and Ive replaced the belt, alternator pulley and steering pump, so I wouldn't worry about unless it gets worse :lipsrsealed:
as for the other noise cant help you on that one, Id take it back to the garage and get them to have a look

Where is the AUX belt located.  I can see a big belt to the left that is easy to spot. Thought this is the fan belt but its quite chunky, must control more than the fan?  Sorry im not top clued up with engines.

that is the AUX belt, it runs the power steering, alternator and the a/c
