Advice Plz; Battery Going Flat In a Couple Of Days....
« on: 08 February 2010, 23:54 »
I have an issue at the moment thats getting on my nerves....

Have had a new battery fitted 2 months ago so I assume its not that... But I have fully charged it and taken it out of the car to make sure its holding its charge...

So assuming its not the above what else is a common issue with the battery going flat after a couple of days of standing???

The Car has a Toad Alarm, brand new stereo (I have heard that some older head unts can flatten a battery)...

Could it be anything else...????

Thanks!!

you got a Volt Meter?

Put the battery in, run the car up , make sure its charging at 13.7 or so volts.

Switch off

keep the volt meter on the battery and see if the voltage is being sapped ( a good 12v batt should sit at about 12.4 volts just sitting in the car) if it starts to drop , then its a process of elimination.
You can try simple things like removing fuse 1 at a time and rechecking the voltage and see if it stops dropping.

Remove you stereo - does it stop dropping?
Disconnect the plug from the Alternator - does it stop ?
