haha i never thought you would get round to getting the dash off! Right pain in the ass to do, good luck with all the wiring. I'll add this to my 'Keep a close eye on' thread

I like the idea of doing a 50/50 that's what i was going to suggest, think that would look uber cool!  What are these dash flocking kits like? We don't have anything like that over here, so would be quite cool to see how you get on, got a link?

That stuff looks good, but at £10 delivery that really puts me off.. :undecided:

Just dont even bother with the DIY kits. Send it to jolfa and have it done properly!
Those DIY kits are ok if you are doing very small bits (wing mirror covers for the inside etc) but it ends up coming out very thin and uneven.

This update is especially for Wherry!

Hurt my knob. Dont Loctite them on  :lipsrsealed:

Horrendous alarm wiring...

General state of affairs:

The push button start will have a new home, its going where the choke cable would have been on older carb'd models (to the left of the steering column). The hole is the perfect size. Also I have a new centre console as my original has been cut to accept wires, switches and a makeshift switch mounting plate. It didnt look tidy!

Anyway...

After some swearing and some cussing later, the old heater box and matrix are finally out, looks to have split around the centre judging by the water marks (and dust stuck to the lower half):

Old and new:

The foam on the heater box flaps has had it, I still have a massive roll of (thin) foam backed carpet which I'll use to replace the OE foam:

This is just the tip of the iceberg, I have a lot of wiring to sort out, and i hate electrics.

Good luck with electrics mate. Just done my golfs. A lot of messy looms got tidies and wires re connected from the alarm mess that was left. Like where the start buttons gone. Good idea
