yep  took all day as i ran out of paint (1 tin isnt enough) so front and top is done in carplan satin black, rear and underside is done in hammerite satin black

out of the two, i prefer the hammerite finish as it went on a lot more evenly and smoother, took about 45 mins before other coats could be applied.

the cheap carplan stuff went on speckly and more thinly, so took more coats with about 15 mins between. unfortunately the carplan stuff also ended up textured, which looks cool but not original so will wet n dry that portion out later

obviously both cans were heated in hot water and shaken vigorously

i have pics but theres not much to see!

I don't think a semi will give the same results

Cool... glad you got it done, yeah I used Ham Satin smooth (brush) in places under the car, really nice finish, better than you'd think.. should have done the wole car in that!... b*tch to sand off though!

I was going to get a bulk buy of satin carplan or simonz paint off the bay but have eneded up using the more pricey halfruads paint but be honest its worth it, the finish is really good with it and it always sprays well, never spits even when you're nearly at the bottom of the can...

any pic is better than no pic. :afro:

Ah OK... but still the brush on is very good if used properly......

Spitting is a pain, but halfrauds tins are expensive!

Front panel went from primer to satin black yesterday, just needs a bit of wet n dry treatment on the top section as it has come out textured, but even with no runs, very pleased with it so far:

primer:

home made spray booth - the back garden!

textured top, feels nice but not OE so needs fine grade wet n dry. the white bits either side are paper from flipping it upside down too early to spray the underside... too keen!

Nice work... all this effort you're putting into the front end is really going to pay off.  can't wait to see it all come together. :afro:

was doing 20 miles a day until it got broken into, now i only use it about 2-3 times a week, cos its easier to get the mk3 going in the morning. the mk2 is shut away at night now  :nerd:
