  • If I can't fix it at home, it ain't getting fixed.
good find.... wish i could find a mk1 i could rape for parts! bays looking great...

ive never seen a mk1 in a scrappy, there are 2 mk2's in my local scrappy now although 1 has been there for months, so is pretty much pillaged to death.

on the other hand though, there are around 6 mk3s, plus another (VR6) which seems too good to break, its an MOT fail with very little wrong with it.....
yeah i hate that, my very first mk1 (3 door 1300) was one that i rescued from a scrappy!.. Went there on the right day as it would have ended up on top of a montego! it had just been dropped off and still had 3 months MOT!!!  was in a bit of a bad state but only had a couple of leaks and rear arches were a bit shot but defo not scrap!!!

Oh I miss it.      My mates dubbed it "Double D" after David Dickinson and his florescent skin!  Glad its getting love though mate, and some little chav isn't ranting it round my home town!  I have just bought a 3 door which will be getting the treatment ready for december! Hopefully see you and Dave at a meet next year.

Gotta be honest, sorting the niggles and finding most of the missing trim has been a slight ball-ache, but i'm glad all the issues have been CHEAP fixes

Oh and the new rear beam bushes fell apart, i'm not sure where you bought them from but i had rear wheel steering for a few days

I got them from Camberley auto factors, so assumed they were of good quality! Hope you didn't get replacements from them!!  I knew the skirts would be a beatch to get hold of tbh... looks a million times better with them on though!

Got some Febi Bilstein ones, much better...

Dont go buying any more bushes from camberley!

OOOH before i forget, is the dipstick from the donor car? It over-reads so wasnt sure if this was either an incorrect disptick (too long) or the engine being mounted so that it was sloping forwards

if the oil goes as low as 'max' on the dipstick, the dash light flashes at you

Been painting the inlet manifold today as it was looking a bit scruffy. 2 coats of matt black engine lacquer and a crafty stencil job later its good to go

Before:

After:

Inspiration from Dmonday's mk3 conversion :afro:

Nice touch mate, Looks loads better in there with the orange details too, still gotta get myself the same cable tidy stuff at some point but in red me thinks.

just dont paint your engine bay green with grafitti paint!... or maybe you should!
