16v conversion, lost spark from plugs
« on: 07 February 2010, 15:34 »
A while ago I pulled my 1300 carb engine out of my mk2 and replaced it with a 16v out of a rotting mk2 gti (oak green, 4 door, big bumper model) along with the wiring, fuel pump, tank, running gear, somehow I have power all the way round the ignition system but no spark, I got new plugs, leads, coil, dizzy, control switch and ecu and still cant get a spark out of it, I tested the hall sender, the ecu, the control switch and theyre all fine but theres no spark coming out of the brand new plugs or leads, I tried the old bits and still nothing,
any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated, cheers, Andrew

Check your coil leads...

We have just replaced the heater matrix on a Mk2 driver and when putting the pipes back on we just caught one of the wires at the back of the coil... and the car didn't start...

Just a suugestion... and worth a quick look...

Have you connected the main earth strap from gearbox to the body behind the battery?
