Problems with rev counter
« on: 30 July 2003, 16:57 »
Im suffering from erratic rev counter readings which also screws up the fuel economy readings. Also causes water warning light to flash for no reason. Not essential but very annoying!!
Im told its down to a printed circuit board behind the display which VW want to charge me both my arms and legs for.
Can anyone give me some advice or point me in the right direction for a replacement (at considerably less than VW arer charging).

Rev counter gets its signal from the coil. Have you checked your connection at the coil? Might just be a bad connection.

Hi, recently whilst changed a radiatior of mk3gti. I encountered the same problem. next day I fix it because as soon as i jumped in the car it was dead. However does the coil need to be connected to the body work. Mines not at present due to worn out terminals. Also the battery keeps going dead, somethings draining it ? is this the coil not connected to the body work ?
