Relay shaft ball
« on: 03 February 2010, 22:26 »
Just a quick one. Is the ball on the relay shaft meant to turn freely on the bit it pushes onto?
Mine is solid but i cant remember if all my other ones moved or not.

they can spin but it doesnt matter either way, just make sure its well greased. its not a tight enough fit in the U cup on the shift rod to be an issue

Should it be quite a tight fit?
I ve got slight play forwards and back which can make 1st difficult when pulling off. cant work out whether its the ball on the end of the gear lever or that one.
Have changed the bushes apart from the big red one because that is ok at the mo and i have weighted shift rod but its still notchy.

oem ones dont seem to be proper tight fit, usually still a little play.  tight 1st is usually more down to alignment though, ahve you done the ball housing under the car? if not that can make a difference.  grab gearstick and lift it upwards, there should be no play at all!
