60k Cambelt change (Warrington VW)

Hi guys

after some feedback.

Popped into Warington VW today to get a quote for cambelt change for my mk5 GTi and she offered me £295 parts & labour (pretty sure included water pump).

I was going to leave it till later in the year when it hits 70K as the manual says 120K for a cambelt, but every car I have had is 4 years/60-70K.

When I bought the car a few weeks ago I did use the cambelt as a bargaining tool.

I think its a pretty good deal if you ask me but I'm just after some feedback from anyone who has had any work done at Warrington VW ?

I spoke to a VW dealer today and was also quoted the £295 but that was without the water pump. They also told me 120k miles or 6 years but I think it's widely accpeted that its 60k miles or 4 years.

I will double check tomorrow but I'm pretty sure it included the water pump.

If it inclued the water pump then it sounds like a very good deal to me. I actually used to live in Marple (not too far from Warrington) but I had Lotus and BMW's then so never used VW unfortunatley so can't help there.

At that price if the WP is included it would be worth me travelling up from cardiff for it!

ive booked mine in for cambelt + dsg oil+filter change was quoted 400 pounds persume that includes vat, will av to check... it doesn't include water pump tho thats 40-60 if needs to be done..  i think il get it changed @ same time even if they say its ok.. is this wise or should it be ok not too?.

Just an update.

Water pump wasnt included, so with a water pump the total comes to £335 (£40 for pump)

Still a good deal for me so booked it in.

Used to take my GT 2.0 TDI to Warrington VW, and even had the cambelt and water pump done by them last year, but I swore I would never use them again for servicing. Every single time the car has been in with them, it comes out with another fault.

When the cambelt was done by them last year, I got a mile up the road, then the car stalled. It was only then I noticed that the battery warning light was on. The toss**s had forgotten to fit the auxillary drive belt that turns the alternator, so I was basically running on battery only ! Luckily I managed to get the car towed back and they very apoligetically sorted it for me within 20 minutes. But that's just one in a list of things I've had. Maybe they just don't like me 

Since then I've been having it serviced by Corkhills in Wigan, and boy what a difference  (for the better I mean) !

Just my experiences, other peoples may differ ?

Well I'll let you know how I get on. I'm sure everything will be fine.

I'm getting them to have a look at the wind noise issue on the driver side too.

As stitch said its a pretty good deal from a dealer (with a 2 year parts and labour warranty).
