Just for those of you who think I've lost the plot: Page 30 second post down in subjects started by Deanjames on 2nd October 2008.

No doubt all rumour except for the R but interesting nonetheless.

I've heard repeated rumours about a Golf model above the R with the Audi TT's 5-cylinder TFSI engine and around 320 bhp and 0-60 in under 5.0 seconds.

A lot of people think that the Golf R should have had this engine to start with. The TT-RS can lap the 'Ring faster than a Porsche Boxter S with PDK, so I'm not sure how happy Porsche would be if VW came out with a Golf capable of doing the same thing.

Would I get one? Oh, yes.

I'm so hoping they'll drop this 5 cyl into the Golf. Combined with a remap, 4WD and DSG it would be my ideal daily driver. Please Mr VW, Please

Audi are charging £42k for the TTRS - with the 5 pot 2.5 engine... thats before any options are added!
If they stuck it in the Golf it'd probably be about £38k!  All these people moaning about the cost of the R at £30k... how would VW cope?!

As for an ED35... surely that'd be due in 2012 or VERY late 2011 as the ED30 was about Jan 2007?

Would love a TT RS, pref more than an R8 - sadly need 5 door car bah! Hmmm like the thinking, drop that engine into a golf and give it a good body kit and show me where to sign. ah bang goes all my arguments about spending over 30k on a golf R lol. something totally off the scale in BHP \ acceration which has a good badge (sorry being vain) does push buttons, especially if you can also fit in a baby seat with a very active 2 year old, plus a a pram in the back. If the RS3 does come out in a couple of years but with a golf interrior, then I'd get one (just please don't make it look cheap inside as the current S3 or look as bland as the golf r on the outside), give it some wow factor in the looks dept please mr vw\audi.

They would be mad not too make an ED35 as the last one over sold its allocation, and I'd probably be in the que for one too.

I would think VOTEX kit with LED rear lamps, KO4'd 240 bhp and some BBS rims and maybe half leather.

Yep they probably would be but VW would likely find enough buyers (like with the R, lovely spec by the way ) to make it worthwhile. After all there aren't many competitors that offer this kind of car.

No 5 cyl (I'd buy one for the noise alone ) I guess I'll have to get an R and maybe go with a larger turbo when they've fitted the more robust DSG box to it.

I've read (unconfirmed) rumours that ED35 is going to be a 2WD with a K04. But that's hardly news is it :nerd:

With 20 months to go before the Mk7 is shown at Frankfurt 2011 it's coming to the time when VW will start to release ED30 type Mk6's.  Expect a K04 turbo, 239bhp, full coloured bumpers and £2,000 on the price.

£2000 just for that? Shocking

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

The TT-RS isn't selling in great numbers. A lot of people are saying £42,000 for an Audi that is fundamentally a Golf in fancy dress is way off the mark. So, VW need to put this engine about a bit. It'll almost certainly go into a next generation Audi RS3, but that is still 2 years away, at least. So, it isn't beyond possible for the 5-cylinder TFSI to go into the Golf.

And, yes, a brand new 2.0 litre diesel is on its way for the GTD. My guess is a launch around September /October this year. It'll have the new 7-speed PQ500 gearbox, which will also go into R and GTI models. The new diesel kicks out 2010 bhp. Not quite as quick from 0-60 as the GTI, but kills it on fuel consumption.
Golf R - almost on order - 5-door, DSG, Rising Blue, leather, 19" alloys, RNS510 with Dynaudio, ACC, Sunroof, Parking camera and sensors, luxury pack and cruise control.
