Hi
« on: 24 January 2010, 11:53 »
Hi everyone, my name is Tom from Erskine in Renfrewshire - new to VW / Golf  and the site.
Did a bit of research before buying a 2005 GTI FSI automatic with most of the toys.

I have sucessfully fitted the Xcarlink adapter for my iPhone and it all works.
Is there a way to upgrade the depth of sound (bass is crap) without replacing the MFD2 unit?

I will check out the audio section. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks - Tom

Welcome to the forum, good choice with the MK5 ;)

You can upgrade your speakers but that wont do a great deal as the standard HUs just dont kick out enough watts. Keep the same speakers and upgrade the HU and you will see a massive difference in sound,

Thanks all for the welcome and thanks AlanD for the advice - seems to be the general concensus. Is it a matter of upgrading the HU to MFD3 or ?
Thanks in advance

I found aftermarket to be soo much better than OEM stuff when it comes to audio. I upgraded mine to an Alpine unit, difference was day and night even before installing the sub and amp, then once they were in, well, no comparison lol
