I have picked up a mk 2 golf 8v gti 89 model and really need some advice.  i need a new down pipe as mine is split and was wondering if anyone new off were to get one cheap,  im also looking at an engine swap but dont want anything two crazy like the 1.8t or VR6. i was thinking maybe 2.0 16 valve from the mk 3 any advice out there

I've recently bought an 8v Gti that I was intending on putting a 1.8t in.

I took the engine out today to find it had a TSR Cam and Pack 'A' Cyclinder Head.

With the right exhaust, manifold and intake, I should be between 135 and 145bhp.

It's worth considering.

Btw. I am now not doing the conversion
