It's about how to fit electric windows, but I'm sure you will find some useful stuff there, i.e. removing the door card, etc.
My Golf mk3 1.8 SE is FOR SALE - Jetex exhaust + Jamex coilies & More...Only £550! More info here > http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=161711.0

Hi..when you buy a new window regulator it doesn't come with a new motor unless required, the motors are expensive!  So, what that means is anyone like me who needed new regulators has to fit the old motor to the new regulator..in turn that means it's not too difficult at all..
If you look at it for a few minutes it'll become obvious what you need to do..You should have some little torx type screw bolts that holds the motor to the baseplate, maybe you'll have a new baseplate on the new regulator i can't remember..(careful when refitting those torx bolts, it's easy to overtighten and strip them.
You have a plug in connector for the motor, that's all the wiring.. the remainder of any wiring or fixings you've probably tackled already if you've removed a window regulator before as you say..
It sounds more complicated than it is.. It'll make sense as you look at it, take your time..

It's not as hard as you think Mate. Remove the door card. Firstly remove the power connector from the motor. Then there are four bolts that hold the mechanism to the door. Remove these four bolts and gently lower the mechanism and the glass down a little. Use something to wedge the glass to prevent it from dropping down. There are then two brackets at the top of the mechanism that hold the glass, untighten the two bolts and gently pull the glass back up to the closed position and wedge it again. You can then take the entire mechanism and motor out of the door and lay it on the floor. There will be a spool in the centre of the motor that holds the two ends of the wire from the mechanism. Take this out of the motor gently and then remove and replace the motor. Replace the spool into the motor and then replace in the door and reattach the glass and the connectors. Once all refitted test the window to make sure it's all lined up and then replace the door card.   Should take an hour tops and as long as you don't tangle all the wires on the mechanism you will be fine.     Hope this helps     Deano
