ate pads?

hello every1 been  searching on here for a while to pick up some info on which pads to get. seem that cos car is as stock and not doing to much racing i should stick to oem pads. but just wanderd if any has used ate pads or has any thoughts on um. £80 front and back. also any1 know rough cost for pads from stealers

I'm looking at the same issue. 56 plate Mk 5 Gti is on its original discs and pads and has just clocked 45k miles. The big service (on variable servicing) is due in about £2.5k miles and I suspect the pads and discs will need doing too.

Will get the car serviced by VW but nothing else. Would like to put OE parts back on so looking for a supplier of the OEM discs and pads.

Mine is almost 5 years old now, 45k miles still on the original pads and discs and still looks OK.  Had the 40k mile service 6 months ago and it sailed through.  MOT in a month though 

Cheapest place for the OEM pads etc is probably the stealer.  Should be able to blag a 10% discount on them too.

Thanks for that. I did have new tyres on there a month or so ago and the pads looked ok so maybe they'll be ok for a few more miles yet. I have been lookimg on the Euro parts sites and the TPS but am not sure what are the OE and what aren't (if any).

Mine are the same, 4.5 years and 41k and still only around 50% worn pads

ATE pads are ok, OE VW stuff is cheap enough and do the job well. As an upgrade, try EBC redstuff, we sell 100's of sets and get great feedback on them, I also use them in my own cars, including my track car.

ATE manufacture the OEM VW brake pads. Unless you track the car or drive hard and fast, OEM pads will be fine.
