i just gone an bought a mark 3 golf gti 8v, N-reg yellow colour concept,

well when my mate bought the car last year it had a lot of work done to it already with a full engine rebuild, 4 branch manifold etc,
also had a kent cam fitted with a cheap vernier pulley on it,
then 2 weeks ago the vernier sliped(previous owner didnt lock tight the alloy key bolts)

so it sliped 10 teeth on the cambelt, so we taken the head off the car an found it bent all the valves but only a little bit,
we went an got a standard head( all new gaskets, head bolts etc,)

put the kent cam in the standard head with the cam followers out of the cammed head too,

just put a standard camshaft pulley on for now,

so put it all back together new coolent etc,

it run perfect then it started to make a rattle, sure its coming from the 1st cam follower, so i just thought it might just need to get some oil inside so i taken it around the block to see if it would go quite but if anything it got louder,

so now just wondering what should i do take it apart an replace just the 1st two followers or the whole lot or not sure wot else to do some people have said change the oil but its got new oil in the car,

or is there any lubricants on the market that will help??

cheers

You may have damaged a bearing or piston if you hit it hard enough to bend all valves.

Could be the followers or a broken valve spring.
