Hey bud,

Firstly congrats with your new wheels  where's the pics! bloody "blind spot" objects can sometimes cause serious damage... also had a similar experience when my builders left some brick force on my garage floor.... as I pulled in (incline) I drove straight over it dragging it along after it caught the lower lip of my front bumper... (was still in the megane at the time) had to get the entire front bumper resprayed  Man- I hate those type of incidents...

So you're enjoying the fwd experience again... Great cars the Gti's...

R32Uk
You are not having much luck with your white GTI

I wouldn't be without rear sensors either. I had a guy in Pontefract do mine for £200 (cos I wasn't prepared to pay VW £400 for front and rear). Mine were the first carbon grey ones he did and it's just an audible warning (rather than the flashy VW one). But I think they're worth every penny. I'm a very good reverser but there are still hidden "traps" which any of us could miss.
Good to see the beast back on the road around our part of Leeds R32.
Any photos? Im thinking of retro some on mine.

A rear view camera question for those with them, what are they like in the dark and only having the rear lights/reversing light as light?

Great.
Don't think I could be without one. You can see in the dark no problem.

The reason i ask is my house is in pich black on a night with no street lights near so only light will be from the cars rear lights and i have to reverse up the drive, turn 90 degrees into the garage. Im trying to decide to go with parking sensors or rear camera.

Wouldnt the rear camera be pointless as you said youself, theres no light? You will just get black screen with a wall light up from the rear lights which you can see anyway out the back window.

I fitted my very own reverse cam into my VW badge on my MK5.  It was from something like reversecameras.co.uk and was only about £50.  I still have the camera somewhere.
Anyway - even in a pitch black night, the camera gave a reasonable display on the screen.  Obviously daylight or a lit street was much better, but a dark car park was no problem.

I hope the factory VW camera is as good as my home made one!

The camera is incredibly good imo. If it was twice the price I'd still go for it. On a dark night you get a much better bigger, brighter view with the camera than looking over your shoulder, especially with the dark rear window. There's an almost 'night vision' feel to it. And then there's the ability to get safely within one or two inches of the car behind. Much closer than with the continuous tone of sensors. Only downside is you don't get any front protection

I orderered it as a gimmick, a party piece, but now I wouldn't want a car without one.
