How long does your diesel take to warm up ??
« on: 17 January 2010, 23:32 »
I'm curious because my remapped 130 seems to take ages to warm up in this weather
usually about 15 minutes from 0 to 90.
but when it's at 90 it stays there.
if yours are similar ill stop worrying but otherwise i might need a new thermostat.
Thanks, Chris

It will take longer because you have prob had the EGR valve mapped out, this chucks hot exhaust gasses back into your system hence heating up your engine quicker.

And if it helps mine is the same

Mines seems like forever, just glad the seats are heated LOL. Probably 10 - 15 minutes. EGR taken off, so that's probably why.

ahh thats good to hear.
how do i know if the egr valve has been bye-passed, if it has there is no need to clean the inlet manifold is there ?
this was my plan when the weather has warmed up.

You need to get on VAG-Com and do some logs on the EGR Duty or something along those lines.

You can still clean the manifold, there will be some deposits in there since the EGR hasn't always been mapped out.

I'm in the same position as above, but I still have my EGR working so not sure if the EGR delete makes it longer or not.

A bit longer too warm up without EGR, but the weather is getting better, so get yourself that Allard Power pipe!
