3 year fixed price service plan for £250 question
« on: 17 January 2010, 21:41 »
Anyone know if you can take out the fixed price service plan at your local dealer rather than at the one you have bought the car from?

I have had a look on the VW website and all i can find is

3 year fixed price service plan for £250

This affordable solution manages servicing costs for up to three years or 30,000 miles (whichever comes first)

A fixed-price service plan will be available on a range of new Volkswagen models from 1st January until 31st March 2010. This affordable solution manages servicing costs for up to three years or 30,000 miles (whichever comes first).

The following is included in the service plan*:

12 months/10,000 miles - Oil change service
24 months/20,000 miles - Interval service (including oil change)
36 months/30,000 miles - Inspection service (including oil change) and brake fluid change

* Based on typical servicing requirements for a vehicle covering 10,000 miles per annum. Vehicles which exceed the 30,000 mileage before 3 years may not benefit from all of the service elements listed.

The fixed-price service plan is available on any new Fox, Polo, Golf, Golf Plus, Golf Estate, Jetta or Touran model that has been bought and registered between 1st January and 31st March 2010. The service plan must be taken out within 30 days of the vehicle being registered. This offer is open to retail customers from participating Retailers only. Subject to vehicle availability. Offer maybe varied or withdrawn at anytime. Terms and conditions apply. Administered by Volkswagen Finance, Brunswick Court, Yeomans Drive, Blakelands, Milton Keynes, MK14 5LR.

You have up to 30 days after delivery to take it up, so I'd imagine any dealer will sell it.

My local dealer offers their own plan too, covers all the VW plan does, and an additional 10% discount on any parts over and above service items that need changing (wiper blades, I suppose), assured courtesy car, or collection/delivery, for £299.
No time limit on that either - where VWs might change 1st April.

Your dealer may too - another option if you miss VWs offer.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Are you asking because you wan't to buy it a while after you get the car? Or because your worried that if you buy it from one dealer that you won't be able to use it at your local dealer? If it's the latter then i would'nt worry cos i'm pretty sure that it's an agreement with VW rather than any specific dealer. However i don't know this for a fact. If it's the former i think percymon has answered that for ya.

Same here...I've just been offered the 3 yr plan on my 12month old GTI for £250, 3yr servicing, 1st MOT & discount on parts etc......it's dealer specific, last week the plan was £299 for 2yrs but competition between dealers has meant they have now improved it significantly....as with everything these days, it pays to shop around !!

I was told by my salesman that VW would contact me direct with this offer. 3 months later and I've not heard a thing!! So I emailed customer services and they have directed me to Volkswagen Financial Services Ltd on 0870 0102022 to purchase.
You would probably be as well trying there.

when i bought my Mk5 i took the deal, ordered the car Feb 2008 it was £200. I can go to any VW franchise and have the car serviced, as far as i know it's transferrable between owners too, should you sell the car prior to the 3 years.

It looks exactly the same deal. This time though I went with the dealers own service plan as he threw it in at the last second, 2 services and an MOT, which isn't too bad either, as i will be keeping the car for about 3-4 years. On paper the dealer charges £399 for the plan he gave me

I got it too, but took it from the dealer I bought the car from. I dont think it will matter which dealer you buy it from.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

I took the full maintance deal with VW. 4 years/60000 miles including servicing, any repairs and tyres. It's £70 a month so £840 a year but I'll use a set of front tyres at least every year and a set of rear every 2 years. £120 a tyre plus £200 for VW service = at least £560 a year. Plus roadside assistance every year, any VW workshop in UK and Europe (very handy for me) and the usual MOT after 3 years.
4 years and 60000 miles means 4 year warranty and all major servicing at 50000/60000 miles.

On my previous car (SEAT Altea) ESC/ABS unit died last week of the warranty. If not for that it would have been £600 from SEAT! And given the number of toys my GTI has the chance of something going wrong over 4 years are too big :)

I'll let you know in 4 years if it was worth it:)
Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...
