I thought it was obvious what car i had by my username
Granted the standard suspension on the A8 is crap, but sport models are surprising good.
The car handles alot better than most people think, you would have to try one to appreciate it.
That is the reason i bought the A8, its got all the luxuries, handles as good as alot of hot hatches, it also very hardly to lose grip having 4 wheel drive. Its also got a fantastic engine that kicks out 295lb ft of torque at 3200rpm, and 300bhp at about 5500rpm.
All for 3 grand, its hard to argue against it

Comparing A8 to Golf Mk3 is like comparing dogs to oranges.

2 totally different cars in completely different categories. Just drop this useless comparison
My Golf mk3 1.8 SE is FOR SALE - Jetex exhaust + Jamex coilies & More...Only £550! More info here > http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=161711.0

Yep. Aluminium space frame.
Its the 4.2 ABZ lump.
Annoyingly, like with all cars, now i'm used it, i wonder if i should of bought an S8 instead
You should like it, its basically 2 ABF's stuck together

But pay more than twice the price for what?
An 'S' badge?
Recaros?

The 4.2 V8 is a bargain...

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

I've got the sport model, its got recaros and the S8 steering wheel. Its also got the same suspension as the S8.
The S8 had 340bhp, 360bhp on the later models. That's what you have to pay for.
The spec is great, its got Sat nav(crap old version), heated seats, cruise, 6 stack Bose, climate control, rear electric blind, electric seats, seat belt height and steering wheel with memory.
It was 62 grand brand new in 1998.
It certainly is a bargain...
Have you driven lots of Audi's?
Going on the handling argument, my dad has an A4 quattro Sport 1.8T, the handling is amazing on B roads, easily as good as any golf, if not better...

Yup, driven loads...used to be big into Audis when I had my S3 - still a mod over on Audi-sport.
What age A4?
One of the worst cars I've ever driven was a B4 model S4 - fast, but handled like a Supertanker!
My S3 couldn't match it on the straights, but murdered it on the twisties.

There is just something a bit numb about Audis...except RSs and Rs.

Been looking again at S3s...but just can't bring myself to order one. I just don't like them, or the image.

The A4 is an 8E2.
I think some of the newer Audi's are a bit dull.
I'm into the older Audi's.
Between myself and family, we've had an 80 Quattro(really old), 90 20v Quattro, 100 2.8V6 Quattro, and the A4 and A8.
Great cars, and unlike golf's, never seem to need money spent on them...
