Electric Issues - Could all these things be linked?

Hi All,

I have had my GTI 1.8T W reg for about a week now, and I seem to have a bit of issue with some of the electrics. I have tested all the fuses, but the all seem to work. My Issues so far are...

Rear Demister not working
side mirrors not heating - my adjuster is set to 0 (not L or R)
rear mirror not auto darkening when a knob has got his full beams on behind me
Side mirrors are in a constantly blue - I saw on the forum that this means they are also auto darkening, but I though it daylight they are just clear and not blue. I might be totally wrong here!!!!

I believe I have the winter pack, which includes all the extras, as I do have the headlight spayers, which now do work after replacing a blown fuse.

Can these all be related? could there be a wire which could have just popped out which would magically fix all these issues?


Also, can I do a test to see if the ABS is working on my car, as I am not 100% sure it is...

hi
on my GTI 20v t the wing mirror glass is blue, i don't think its auto dimming its just to stop glar its a tint on the glass,
the rear view mirror will have a little leaver on the bottom flick it back and it dims the mirror,
wing mirror heating works on the same circuit as the rear demister so thats the same problem i think mate.

Mite be wrong but have you tried VagCom to scan for errors?

As said Vag Com and try repacing the fuse anyway sometime its hard to see if they have failed

I used a multimeter to check all the fuses, but I might try and change it again

My side mirrors might not be auto darkening. I just saw a post on fitting auto dimming side mirrors, and they were blue. They are supposed to be heating one though, as there is wires around the back

The rear view mirror is auto darkening, as there is no lever to flick it, and instead a little light sensor

dont know where to get a vagcom thing from. Can you rent them from anywhere??

I have seen on ebay the cables only cost about £10 with a shareware version of the software. I thought they were like a couple hundred quid. What are the differences between the shareware ver of the software, and fully liscenced?

Will get one of the cables as a test...

Check the 2 rubber tubes which carry wires from rear of car to tailgate, open the boot and you'll see them . My V reg had a snapped wire which stopped the rear heated screen working.    When I pushed the button on dash it didn't change from yellow to red, more like a very light orange  . Think the live goes down the passenger side and the earth goes down the drivers side. Mine had welded itself to the rear washer pipe n all
