Hi

Just joined, been on mk1 owners for a while, but thought I'd join this one too.
Between me and my mates, we have 3 GTI mk1 cabbies, 2 GTI Mk1 Tin tops and a mk2 syncro...the build/work/crash threads are on other forums, but will see what i can post here too, at least some pictures of the running, MOT'd and taxed dailies we get to work in...

I've never been to a car meet, but hoping to make it to a few this year...

A quick question in case any gurus are knocking about....

is there anything useful i can do with an L reg mk3 GTI 2.0 8 valve, when i'm running mk1 and mk2's all with 1.8 8 valves....would it be worth putting the 2.0 in any of the mk2's?? or even a mk1, is any easier??

It seems a shame to scrap the mk3, but it has an ecu issue, won't rev over 5000 and i can't be bothered when the mk2 and 1 need the attention..

Any ideas would help, cheers

have you checked the timing?? its a very common fault, saves scrapping a decent car for the sake of a few simple checks

Cheers, i think i'm going to try and put the bottom of the 2.0 engine in....i've got a daily drive to get me to work, so can take my time, and if i mess it up, i can always put it back together again how it used to be....
