I was trying to convince a couple of mates to get winter tyres last night and they couldn't get it into their heads that they are not just for snow. I gave up in the end! They are cheapskates though!

Sometimes you just can't educate people.
Once experienced, they understand.

My 18" Vredesteins gave more grip at 4 degrees C, straight off the shelf with the coatings still on, than the Goodyear F1s did after 3000 miles.
That's just the cold and wet.
Wait 'till the frost comes...
...and the snow.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Hopefully Contis are the way to go - I'll let you know.
Around £160 a corner for 18", they can store your summer tyres for a small fee if you don't have the space at home (or can't be bothered taking them home).

Kwikfit don't seem to have the Conti 830s in 17" or 18" anymore on their website. They probably have run out.

The W rated Verdy winter tyres in 18" were available until last week on mytyres. (I think these are the ones Ess_Three has). They seem to be running out of winter rubber in the size Gizzy requires pretty rapidly.
