Just ordered some Conti Winters.

I remember how useless the Bridgestones were last winter - bordering on the dangerous even at low speeds.

I've spent a lot of money buying this car so it seems to me a false economy to struggle through the winter on high performance summer tyres.

I'll update when they are fitted and run in.

17" of course.

I'm not changing wheels, just tyres.

What about you?

No dont.

Kwik fit will do them for around £150 a corner at the moment.
Price will go higher the worse the weather gets.

18"s will be a bit more obviously.

I was just giving her an idea of price. £150 a corner (all inclusive?) is a good price, though I dislike Kwiksh!t.
She can put the 18" ones on her Monza Shadows which will avoid her buying an extra set of 4 wheels.
Anyway, the Continentals are the one's to go for be they 17" or 18".

Hopefully Contis are the way to go - I'll let you know.

Around £160 a corner for 18", they can store your summer tyres for a small fee if you don't have the space at home (or can't be bothered taking them home).

I know they do this.

Good price for 18". These Continentals are readily available at present.

The other very good tyre, but very pricey, is the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3.

Seems like a good deal to me.

I searched the web and phoned a few local fitters.

You can probably get the same tyres cheaper elsewhere on online sites but they can't fit or store them and I couldn't find them.
I'm sure somebody will find a better deal for fitted and balanced.

I think Kwik Fit are trying the European approach to this to encourage more car owners to have winter tyres.

No bad thing.

I was trying to convince a couple of mates to get winter tyres last night and they couldn't get it into their heads that they are not just for snow. I gave up in the end! They are cheapskates though!
