I have never bothered what petrol or diesel I have put into any of my cars over the last 20 odd years, its always been a case of pulling up at the nearest petrol station and filling it up with whatever.......I have seen the adverts saying this petrol will do this and this petrol will do that but always thought it was just marketing bullsh!t. After reading through various threads on here I decided to let the tank run down and give Shell V Power a go, just to see for myself.
I have a 2001 {y reg} 1.8T AUM, re-mapped to 220 something bhp {according to the chap I got it off}, from the first test drive, driving it home and running about in it for the last month or so I have not been happy with 2nd and 3rd gear when accelerating.......just seems like there's nothing there until you hit 2500 to 3000 revs, its hard to explain but it just didn't feel right....
So this morning I filled it up was Shell V Power, it feels like the engine fairies have been and put me a new engine in.........Throttle response is definitely smoother, the revs are dropping down quicker when changing gear {before they seemed to hang around the 3000+ rev mark for a split second before dropping}, when you put you foot down the response is now instant and puts a daft grin on your face and i`m pretty sure its quieter, when I say quieter it seems to tick over a lot smoother ........I for one will be using Shell V power from now on and I didn't think that I would notice any difference.........
