Mk3 will be a classic - especially the VR6. It was the only hatchback out there with a 6 cylinder engine.

I don't understand why the Mk3 gets such bad press. The Mk4 was the worst GTI IMO - and I mean the 1.8T, not the re-badged 2.0 Highline. Again the Mk4's which will be sought after classics will be the big-engined V5, V6 and R32.

Can't ever see the V5 being a classic or the V6, R32 yes, GT TDI yes as it was the first proper performance diesel!
MK4 GTI T AGU, REVO Remap, BMC carbon box, Miltek cat back, Forge diverter valve, THS FR3 engine/Gbox mounts, Some random alloys, lowered on coilovers.
192bhp 212lbft torque.

V5 and V6 because they're rarer. I forgot the Mk4 Anni. TDI's will all have be driven into the ground in 20 years time. Anyway, name me a diesel which is a classic today...

The Lancia Delta Intergrale is already a 'modern classic' imo.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

I don't think the MK 5, although a very nice car atm, will be a future classic; but the MK4 R32 will definitely be a classic, and maybe the MK 4 anniversary...
