what shall i do
« on: 12 January 2010, 21:51 »
as a few of u know i have put a 20l 16v on twin 40s in my mk2

now heres the what shall i do bit

i have just got a corrado to and i quite like it tbh but it was cheap and should make a little profit on it but half tempted to keep it and sell mk2

so what would u say sell the mk2 as it is or convert it back to 8v injection which is it original engine with quite a bit of service and loads of reciepts or leave it with the 20l 16v in which has had quite a bit of work done to
the car itselfs is a h plate in good nick rainbow interior mint no rips burns ect body work has a few stone chips and a 2-3 5p size bits of rust

and either way what sort of dollar do u think is about rite

cheers

lee

I would say this is really a decision you need to make alone, and should maybe factor in that if you sell the golf and keep the rado and then decide you dont like it as much as the golf after all, will you get another mk2 in the same condition and the same year as yours for sensible money?
As im sure your aware well looked after ones are just going up and up.
As for the engine i think you'd probably get more for the car with the 2ltr 16v engine and get alot more people interested in the car but on the other hand,IF you did decide to get another golf down the line,if you sell the car with the 8v engine then ud have the 2ltr 16v to put in the next golf u bought rather then have to start from scratch again (presuming you would want to convert it to a 2ltr 16v).
Id say its a tuff decision mate.

Good luck.

I have been thinking of selling my mk2 recently but I now know I will miss it bigtime. So if you sell the engine let me know :P
After something a bit different, bet the carbs sound great. Unless you got a G60 motor knockin around lol

I have the same sort of problem.

I have got a Golf that is really tidy - but now needs an engine - but is too good to scrap

I have a really rare Alfasud - which I paid peanuts for that's worth a fortune - but people keep making me offers for it.  It needs minor work and a re-spray - I can't bring myself to part with it..EVER.   I want to be burried in it.

I have an Octavia RS as a daily driver.

My wife hates the lot and says sell the jeffing lot.  I am getting my way at the moment - but the force is strong in her at the minute (starwars joke)  I would errect a hanger and fill it with loads of old cars if I could.

I would keep the Golf mate - corrados are just OK "in my opinion"  you spent a few quid on the Golf - keep enjoying it.
He's not coming out, because he's a very naughty boy!

Never driven a rado but I hear they handle good
