Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme, or if you're really committed the Snowtrac.

A lot of the MKV boys have nothing but high praise for Vredestein tyres. They're the next tyre on my hit-list to try when I need new tyres in a couple of months.

Not to be sniffed at around £81 (225/45/17) a corner on here:- http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php

Or try this review resource:- http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyres_For/Volkswagen/Golf-GTI.htm

Ok, they are mainly MKV reviews, but surely the results can be that different for the MKVI?  :undecided:

MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

Yes, I was driving on the Snowtracs last week in Germany and they are pretty impressive in the snow (Passat by the way). I'm told Wintracs are nearly as good and given the usual mild UK winters, I'm going to get them. If we had winters like this one every year, I'd get the Snowtracs.

Did you go for 16" or 17" wheels? The narrower 205/55R16 or 205/50R17 will be better if it does snow.

no i got 18" R32 Wheels, i know you really need smaller/narrower tyres for snow and ice but still has to look the part
So i will try the Vredsteins wintracs anything will be better than F1s in this weather even slics
Thanks for the heads up Mac
