does mk5 have usb connections or play mp3 cd's?

hi all i was just wondering if the standard mk5 (2.0 gt tdi) sterio had any way of connecting a usb stick or ipod etc via the back without obviously taking the sterio out and actually looking??are they easy enough to remove the cd player??also does the cd changer or sterio play mp3 cd's??much help would be appreciated

Depends what radio you have. Certain optional extra upgraded units allowed you to insert an SD card and recent ones also allowed MP3 CDs. Do you know what model of radio you have?

The later RCD 300 came with a little "MP3" logo on it like this:



And the upgraded RCD 510 has the SD slot like this:

I have that RCD300 pictured above. Never tried with MP3 CDs though. I may try it and I'll let you know if its decent.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but are you able to put a iPod connection onto the RCD300??
I have an iPhone and want to be able to play my music through the car speakers, since its connected to my bluetooth kit for calls etc already......

I dont really know a great deal about the VW headunits as I get rid of mine for an Alpine so not sure.

Yes, I had the Ipod prep with the RCD300. I wouldn't bother though as it functionality is pants!

Needless to say I now have an aftermarket HU and direct iPOD play.
