Fooking garages
« on: 11 January 2010, 18:34 »
I just had me clutch done today, go to pick it up.. Get in it and drive off and notice and plastic creaking when I press the clutch pedal and it wont go all the way to the floor, so turn round and go back and tell them and they swear it is going all the way to the floor but there is a creaking. So they check the cable and its not in correctly.

Watching what they're doing and they're not taking much care what so ever pulling things off. So much so that im contemplating saying leave it and i'll sort it myself. Anyway they sort it out so on the way home though I'll just have a check over it in the petrol station. Check under the bonnet and everything is ok thinking this is too good to be true....

Look underneath as they've had it up on a ramp and suprise surprise they've lifted it not on a lifting point and the floor is dented and the underseal all cracked.

I absolutely hate garages as these people just don't fooking care about peoples property and don't do things correctly. Im gonna sort it out as best I can myself as Im not letting them touch it again but I will be going to show them it and complain.....

If I could have done the clutch myself I would have as I don't trust no f@cker to look after my car  properly... Rant over !!

I've never trusted someone else with my car except Diamond hell, Danny_P and myself. Garages are just rip off and sometimes do more harm than good!

Cheers peeps, me too I hate them with a passion for this very reason and I wish I could have done it myself....

But with the weather the way it is... Had no alternative and didn't want it leaving me stranded by the roadside as Ive put up with the knackered clutch since Ive had it 2 1/2 years..Hill starts with a car load were a nightmare, but its never slipped until lately doing it all the time.

Not bad on the original clutch 132,000 miles !!

Small claims court...  Perhaps try to get compensation and the cost of the work back.

Some good guides on the gov websites

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

Nah can't be bothered with small claims court and all that.. Been there before for a larger amount and its alot of agro.... Also the car now pulls to the left slightly....

No doubt they never marked the camber before removing the hubs from the wishbones.... Cost me £68 to get that all setup after doing the top mounts... Now I've got to get it done again.

And one of the grey plugs that hold the plastic scuttle cover on is missing, going back there Monday !!

I only use 1 garage, and 1 bodyshop.

And i know them both well, and trust them.

Wouldnt just use anyone, as its simply not worth it.

Yeah thats the best way, trouble is up to now haven't got a garage that I trust and done all work myself but cannot change a clutch. This garage was recommended to me but I guess people are not a fussy as me and don't notice these things !!

tbh dont think your been that fussy wanting a job done properly and the car back in the same condition it went to to the garage in . its what should happen when your paying for it
