AGU Fuel System Problems
« on: 09 January 2010, 18:07 »
For a while now i've had suspected something isn't quite right with the fuel system on my stage2(k03s)AGU.
Today i had the car scanned with vag-com and this code came up.

Address 01 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 06A 906 018 CG
Component: 1.8L R4/5VT MOTR HS D02
Coding: 04000
Shop #: WSC 00028
1 Fault Found:
00561 - Mixture Adaptation
14-10 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded - Intermittent
Readiness: N/A

The first thing i check will be the maf,but anything after that i may leave for the lads down at R-tech to ponder over.

Playtime Nick?

Glad I saw you post this here as I think I might have put some noses out of joint if I posted on your thread on uk-mkivs

First of all, this does not mean that you are running lean at top end. That would flag up a system too lean DTC and the adaptation limit error would be (MUL) not (ADD). You'd also have early warning signs of backfiring and boost cutting before you get anywhere near engine melting temperatures. The ADD mixture adaptation refers to fuelling at idle only which is why a vac leak is always the biggest suspect. I know you love searching for those

I'll get the pressure tester on it on Saturday and see if i can find any,but the boost gauge is showing the same vac as normal, the maf will be eliminated tomorrow.

Noticed that part of my catch tank install has broke, alarm bells are ringing :undecided:

The plastic part that comes out of the sump has snapped,so the sump is venting to atmosphere and the pipe that was attached is hanging loose from the catch tank.
I've blocked it up untill i can get the new part ordered and fitted.

sounds a likely suspect mate. Also would it have flagged this up due to you leaving the drain undone when you first fitted it?

Now it gets tricky

Had my maf checked with a volt meter but it wasn't showing any voltage input or output from the ecu,yet i've done a maf log with vag-com and it's working fine and dandy!

Since the code was cleared at weekend it hasn't come back,i drove home from Pats with the catch tank pipe hanging loose since the code was cleared,so that rules that out. Will just keep an eye on it for now and see if the code comes back.
