Fair enough. From experiance of the Mk5 ones, the carpet mats aren't the best anyway, but it beats having to buy some straight away.

Hopefully my build week gets confirmed soon and can look forward to the mats..... and the car

Also does the carpet mats with the GTI logo and red piping on the outer edges come as standard.
No. red piping is LHD cars only. RHD UK GTIs get the standard borring golf matts.

No red piping on mine, just the bog standard black ones. Picked the car up end of November.

The ones I've bought on ebay (earlier link) are definitely the genuine VW GTI ones...here's a link for a VW Dealer selling exactly the same mats (same part number) - might be worth giving them a call if you want to be sure they fit the MK6

Not exactly cheap, the plain mats in my car are good enough for me, especially during this wild winter!

I'm currently using a set of VW rubber mats in my MK5, and looks like they will fit the MK6 when it turns up. Really handy in this rubbish weather and for days when i'm out walking. I'm sure they were just over £20 for a front set, IMO isn't bad

Yeah I know, but have to make some cost cutting somewhere, I just don't need a set of mats for £60 odd quid when the standard ones are good enough.  The mats are full of dirty snowy grit at present so I'd hate to be ruining pricey matting. that's just me tho.

Hey, does anyone have these? I am thinking of getting them, but in the picture, the red stiching around the edge of the mats does not look very "strong" or "striking".
What do people think?

I've just received them - they are the genuine VW Golf GTI ones. Quality wise they're fine but nothing special, as you say the red stitching is quite subtle. Probably not worth the money but I guess that can be said for anything with a VW badge on it
