How many miles when your tank is empty

How many miles more can you get out of your GTI when the display is showing zero miles left.  I got down to zero yesterday just before i filled up, but was just wondering does zero really mean zero

I cant answer your question but have covered 28 miles with an indicated 0 mile range.
In A3 170 DSG going about 45mph on the A14 in rush hour!!!!! I reckon you could get 20 miles driving like a half blind 95 year old..

I managed 40 miles, it didn't run out..   (With spare 5 litre in the boot just in case).

I remember a Top Gear episode where they drove diesel cars from France to Blackpool trying to do it on a tank of fuel.

Jeremy had a big Jag and drove the last 40 miles with his trip computer saying ZERO.  Once the show had finished, the researchers continued with the car which managed to get an additional 100 miles even though the computer said ZERO!!!

I know the GTI would manage no where near that... but you can probably get more than you think.  Carry a jerry can fuel of petrol and try finding out!!!

u do know all those races and scenarios were fake.  like how there appears to be a cameraman every few hundred metres along the 1000 + mile route.  its all fake just to make it all interesting for the female viewers.  i much prefer the old top gear- u know for car enthusiasts.

top gears been staged for ages, you only need look at the way its filmed to work that out! Its become a sitcom rather than anything particularly insightful, still a good watch though!

I had one of those moments on a motorway outside east london where I missed the turn for the petrol station only for the sat nav to tell me the next one was over 15 miles away!!! I was already on 0 miles so I was sh&tting myself!!

But the car just kept going, I rolled it into a garage but suspect I could have gone further, not sure I want to find out though!

Im sure you don't want an empty tank in this sort of weather. I fill it up once the MFD registered 100miles  just in case I get stuck in traffic.

My car is 1200miles old and I manage 320miles before the MFD registered zero 4 weeks ago! I manage another 10 miles before I can find a Shell garage to fill it up with V-power!

I always thought you could get a good few miles out of it when it shows zero its just having the balls to see how far you actually get
