As in Jeremy...?
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

have to say dovercourt sales men are great and chris who was there up until last year help us with quite a few bit but now he has gone we dont get the same service and i feel the service dept dont really have that extra care any more.

we moved west and now use high wycombe (city gate) and they are just as bad, ie when you get a tech they dont listen to what you know to be the problem but presume something else.

I went there last year with my cold start problem after being told by a tech that phil and i met called Gary, who said straight away its deffo the cam belt, get it seen soon or it could be very expensive. So i went down there and got a tech to look, he said its the air con! so obviously i replied with my armory and let them take the car in. Was told the air con will be fixed tomorrow, so i said what about the cam.

Thats fine they say! so 2 days later i get a call (and BTW im paying £10 a day for the luxury of driving one of their Polo's!) we have noticed a problem with the cam belt and it needs to be replaced along with the tensioner and water pump. I couldnt believe it a car at 25k and they are telling me it wont need replacing till 60k! So i concur! Steve the fact your getting rid its not so important but this problem could be dangerous in damaging pistons etc very prematurely in these cars, and i would be vigilant with the MK6 GTI and R and the Rocco R too...

Hi James , yes mine was the 58 plate , I have to say the sales department have been very good to me over the years, but the service side of things are a nightmare!! I just dont rate the service team there at all , 6 months ago thy dented my car the cost £700 damage in the wing which they fixed straight away whilst it was in for coil pack replacment. Now this wurling noise when the car is cold ?? I have just had it with them . hope you dont go through what i have been through thanks Steve

not been overly impressed with either the sales or servicing at dovercourt

when i first popped into enquire about a gti a couple of years ago the sales chap did not even give me the time of day, i was only 24 at the time..  but he did not even register my details, so when I went back the next weekend to buy the ed30 in the show room I certainly did not give him the business, I think I ended up with a chap called Robert Cheesman who was alright

servicing wise i'll trust them with a oil and filter change but thats about it as my cars modified so jkm in portsmouth do the rest for me.

why the mk6 gti steve? the power of the ed30 too much to handle

The Mk6 on the test drive was very nice , i love the refinemnet of it and i think its got a better engine!! The ED30 has been brilliant cant fulit it really, but i do change my car every 1 year to 18 months , so i thought why not get the mk6!! I'm not into moding. Robert Cheesman is still there he's a nice guy and has been ok. Steve

Tell them to replace cambelt and Tensioner as they should of done in the first place.

You cant say i didnt warn you. Hopeless some of these VW tech's.

Have you actually told them about the cam belt tensioner being the problem??, as lots of people have had this problem cured 1st time around.

Hi Phil , Belive me I have told them this morning, I nearly ended up punching this Tec,  he was useless so now the service manger as taken over. He has asked me to deal with him on Monday got the car back and to monitor it over the weekend? If it still doing the same noise they are going to have another look at it on Monday? When this guy started spraying WD40 all over the fan belt , I asked him to stop doing it and his reply was I can do anything I want. Thats when I lost it with him!! Must be 20 times I have told them what the problem is but guy is having none of it!! More to be revealed ????
