I ordered a GTD in July last year 2009 it arrived within 5 weeks!!
I ordered my wife a new polo 1.6tdi SE no extras at beginning of October 2009 and she is still waiting for it!!
Like one of the previous comments these are mass produced cars so whats the problem with deliveries?
Have they undersetimated demand given the recession?

It must be a real sickener for all you peeps waiting for your cars.

I can only assume VW never realised how many would want a mk6 GTI, and therefore weren't prepared for the huge number of orders.

Myself and Simonpolly ordered our cars on 22nd May and took ownership last week in July, max 2 month wait!!

VW are taking the p**s now, but please all stay for the ride!! I promise you it's a great car and you won't regret it.

Best of luck to you all.

Gizzy

Thanks for helping us keep the faith, Gizzy. I've been waiting since 15th August...

The worst  possible thing for any car manufacturer is to have loads of stock sitting at the ports unsold.

VW ain't daft.  Far from it.

Forget stories of supply problems  or difficulties with certain options.

They are deliberately keeping supply under demand (and rightly so IMHO) to avoid over supply and enhance their market image.

Common sense surely. (And my degree isn't in economics or from Cambridge )

Just called my lease company.  VW are frantically trying to explain how they "bet their house on the car being delivered in week 2 January" and now, seemingly (although I await their latest pathetic excuses) this will now no longer happen.

I look forward to receiving the house keys from the sales manager at VW Stockport in due course.
3dr, Pearl Black, 18" Monzas, RCD 510, DSG, now delivered and rattling.

Not when the company has to start paying for hired cars for its customers. It does not make commercial sense.
I thought the whole point of the mark 6 was making it easier and cheaper to produce than the mark 5

If VW can get the parts from their suppliers.

Hi Gizzy

Had an email yesterday from the dealer saying my car is due to be built in week 7 so (assuming the build week doesn't change again!), should get it in March with the new plate which cushions the blow a little bit ! I've ordered the leather seats ( which don't appear to be a popular choice from some of the postings I've seen) but hopefully they should be heated to keep me toasty. It may not be as cold as other parts of the UK but it's still bl**dy freezing down here

Am due to hear what hire car I'll be offered next week until delivery of mine. I actually lost interest for a while in the GTI but now hopefully the end is in sight, I'm getting excited again !

Great news! let's hope the don't shift you back any further, nice to have a 10 plate any chance of getting a GT prefix? sure leather will be fine, I just went for cloth cos I liked the look of it + I'm a tight b!tch, wanted xenons and couldn't justify both.

The car though is everthing I hoped for and more, it's even been fine in the snow! guess that's down to the Bridgestones.

All the best.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a hell of a lot of UK Golf's being built in Wk07?  Do you think Wolfsburg will be dedicating that purely to RHD jobs?

I just want my fecking car now!!  Bastards!

Mk6, 3dr, DSG, DBP.
